Elephant List! To me, discovering, sharing, and commenting on different links to adult websites is like a sort of mini-Christmas. I mean, I am the guy who founded ThePornDude Empire; I have made a career off of such stuff. So, for this website, it only makes sense that I have a section devoted to platforms that provide similar exposure to smut links all over the web.
Unlike other review websites – many of which I’ve already commented on before – the Elephant list is a little more barebones but does have some interesting things going for it. Rather than being a review and recommend platform, this website blasts you with an impressive number of links to arousing pages. There are so many that I even don’t think that I’ve seen so many on one page. And that’s saying a lot, you know?
With that basic explanation of this website’s premise laid out, let’s get into the specifics of why you might (or might not) give this website a look or take advantage of its services.
By the way, there is some exciting information sprinkled throughout that I’ll tease here and there. So, keep reading the entire thing to get all of the best information you won’t find in the bullet points or any other single source.
Why Go Here When There Are Other Options
Dating back to 1998, when the net was young, it’s clear that the person(s) running this platform is not only in it for the long haul but also has an impressive archive built up. Now, to be clear, it’s a bit hard to fact-check that in some minutes because there is an epic number of links to be seen.
Still, a cursory glance at the homepage will reveal that even within the space of a few days, there is an incredible number of links to adult websites that have been added. Indeed, despite its age, updates to this site are made daily, which is something I rarely see in terms of consistency and the enormous quantity of links.
When it comes to the links provided, you are treated to a delicious amount of variation. As far as I can tell, if it doesn’t include extremely brutal BDSM or (obviously) anything illegal, just about any adults-only platform – regardless of niche, genre, etc. – has representation on this website.
This is great news for people who like to watch this sort of stuff and those looking to get exposure out on the net. To do so, contact the site masters to get some attention. As far as I know, that seems to be free. However, you can get even more exposure by putting up money to get pictures of your website promoted in picture form, but more on that later.
If You Ask Me, This Website Has A Quirky Design Style
The biggest thing that stands out to me about this website is the way that it is designed – it is painfully stripped down and conservative.
And I don’t mean Margret Thatcher conservative; I’m talking Fred Phelps in his prime while on a ranting tear conservative.
Despite the fact that the logo has been updated a few times over the years and there are regular updates on the site on a daily basis, the design does not seem to have changed. If you haven’t yet seen it, this website uses a white background and lists the many links on the homepage. To see more of them, you’ll have to click on the See More link that’ll display a couple of days’ worth of posts.
In other words, this site was using infinite scroll; before, the true infinite scroll was a thing. Good luck getting used to that.
Besides that, this website has a decent number of links on the left-hand side of the screen that take you off to some categories of particular porn, but the site is a little light on giving, well, any detail. Other than that, there honestly isn’t too much to review on this website when it comes to aesthetics.
I practically lack any with one (somewhat) significant exception.
I’ve got my own opinions about how this situation should (or at least can) be rectified, but I’ll get to that later. First, we need to go over other interesting, unique, and odd aspects regarding this platform.
Not Everything Is What It Appears To Be
If you cruise around this website – not that there is too much else to look at – you will occasionally stumble upon a link or two that says that it’ll take you to some sweet stuff only to redirect you to the homepage.
For instance, some hyperlinks supposedly take you to free porn thumbnails on another part of the website, which, in some cases, are nothing but a tease.
Other structural issues abound, which I think is rather weird considering how minimalist this website’s design is.
The Thumbnails Are A Nice Touch
While much of the design is not at all noteworthy, the promotional thumbnail section is a nice touch. They are not always of the highest quality, but there is a decent selection of free-to-view porn pics. Click on any, and you’ll be redirected to the page from which the original pictures come from.
While hardly the most exciting perk (and really, it could be considered a form of spam) compared to the rest of the site, it is a decent addition.
By the way, if you want your photo galleries to be featured, contact [email protected] to get the conversation started. Just be aware that if you’re going to partner with these people, you will have to spend a little bit of money, or perhaps a lot.
To be precise, the cost breakdown is as follows;
“
Partner Account Information (Last updated Apr/2022)
Special plans for an Elephant List partner account are listed below:
30 days (one gallery per day) - $40.00 USD
60 days (one gallery per day) - $72.00 USD 10% off the regular price
90 days (one gallery per day) - $102.00 USD 15% off the regular price
180 days (one gallery per day) - $192.00 USD 20% off the regular price
365 days (one gallery per day) - $360.00 USD *BEST OFFER! 25% off the regular price!
”
When you break it down, spending a little over (or a little less depending on your upload count) a dollar a day on a promotional picture with a link to your smut site ain’t too bad to me. Still, I’m not sure that I could justify spending that much to get a few clicks.
Then again, since they report to have an impressive number of views (I’ll let you guess how many for now, but it will be revealed later), this could be a worthwhile investment.
Other Reviewers Have An Interesting Take On Elephant List
In the interest of fairness, I suppose that I should refer to what other people have to say about this site. It only makes sense to me to do so to be balanced, and also, since my website is about making money (often using adult entertainment), it’s essential to make sure you guys aren’t going to be ripped off.
Mamma.com gives Elephant List a trust score of 75%, which seems to largely come from the fact that it is indeed an old-ass domain and has a valid, active certification. Unlike many of the other websites that I look at, this one’s ownership can be verified.
Not that it matters that much to me, but if you are interested, Elephant List is owned by Saavy Investments LLC.
Moving on, ScamAdviser.com reiterates much of this information, which proves to me that it is reliable. (PornAlternatives.com also does, by the way.) This same source also hosts eleven user reviews which average out to two and a half stars, and Scam Adviser considers elephant List to be trustworthy overall.
It’s also worth noting that they state that this site has an impressive Alexa.com ranking which seems to support Elephant List’s claim about how many visitors they get regularly. Further analysis of Alexa backs up what other reviewers have said and what Elephant List claims about itself.
According to Alexa, Elephant List has an impressive ranking in the 115,000 range and, as of the publication of this article, is trending upward in terms of popularity. Moreover, the page visitation rate is about one minute and fifty-five seconds. That may not sound like a lot, but when you consider that this is an average and compare it to competing sites, that’s pretty damn good.
With that info established, I think it’s accurate to say that this is a safe website. Other than those two sources, though, there isn’t much to report regarding this website’s reputation, good or bad.
Like Everyone Else, I Have A List Of Improvements That I’d Like To See
Okay, I admit, I did start kind of glowing about this website, and now it seems I’ve expended several hundred words dumping on it. And it’s true, I have. But before I get to a conclusion that takes into account both opinions, I’ll share how I think this website could be better.
Search engine integration – Oh my god, this is the most fundamental improvement that needs to be made on this platform. With what must be hundreds of thousands of links (that is my extremely minimal estimate, by the way), why the hell isn’t there a search engine?
For that matter, there aren’t any filter options and only a barebones category menu that I talked about already.
Suppose you are maintaining a database like this, at least plug in a Google on-site search engine. More than that, I would add an advanced search engine complete with detailed filter tools and the likes to get contributors a higher number of hits and make this website more navigable.
A new type of aesthetic – On top of that, I think the site’s design needs to be completely restructured. Rather than list links in a single column list, I would break them into separate pages that users can see by clicking on category sections on the main page. The links would be represented by related pictures of the category or genre described. Another category I would add would be the most obvious – a picture of the day post.
Fix a few of the links – I brought this up earlier, but it is still worth bringing up. Another part of cleaning this site up would be by making certain links more obvious (i.e., thumbnail promo pics) and removing or re-linking others.
Add some on-site flavor – To be fair, it’s not a requirement, but it would be nice to see more than just a mammoth number of links and nudie pics on this website. I would add things like a blog at the very least, even if it is a minimalist one.
I think it would be even better if the site added an opportunity for users to spend money to have their platform highlighted by the webmasters via the blog. Given the sheer number of websites being promoted on the homepage, this has to be something people would compete for to have their site boosted.
Besides that, I would also consider adding other special features like polls, featured photos, and interactive comments for the new posts previously described.
Get active on social media – It’s truly amazing that a platform this old has exactly zero presence on social media despite how long it has been around. While the number of viewers they claim to have is impressive, they could grab even more by maintaining a Twitter page. More than that, it would be an excellent way to connect with the existing viewers and retain their attention.
Now We’ll Combine The Details And Come To A Conclusion
I will not harmonize what may seem like conflicting opinions that I have regarding this platform.
In my opinion, Elephant List is neither horrific nor is it a champion platform for what it’s supposed to be either. If you are looking for exposure, it might be a site to include in a mass email to get attention, but I would not expect your page hits to soar if The Big EL promotes you.
This can be a decent resource for those looking for novelty when it comes to the erotica you see online. Still, I can’t help but think that there are so many other options with more material (ThePornDude, MrPornGeek, etc.) that you might end up simply wasting your time with Elephant List.
Then again, Elephant List boasts that they get 650-750,000 new hits every day, so that is pretty damn impressive if you ask me.
Those, I think, who will benefit the most from this platform would be aspiring net entrepreneurs working in related business spaces. If you are trying to discover and network with different pornographers, erotica bloggers, adult toy retailers, etc., this resource is perfect. After all, there are more than two decades’ worth of links to be seen, with dozens being added daily.
(Just be careful not to cramp your hand from all of the scrolling.)
Given how both broad and niche this website is, coupled with effort (and lack thereof) put into it, I’m going to split the difference and award ElephantList.com three hands out of a maximum of five.
