SEM Rush! It’s time to talk about one of the most essential tools on the entire fucking internet, SEMRush. Here’s how you decide whether you need their service: Do you own a commercial website? If the answer is yes, then you need a SEMRush subscription. You could try to get by using the free version, but you shouldn’t. This isn’t a simple bulletin board tool like Trello or what have you. Forget the free version. You need a subscription. I have nothing against you using a competitor; that’s fine. But, not using any automated SEM analytics tool is blasphemy. You would have to be clairvoyant to get by without the help of a proper analytical system.
SEMRush has been around for longer than most current online businesses. I’m not kidding; they’re older than Instagram. They launched in 2008 and ever since then, they’ve just been adding tools to their kit, most of which are entirely automated. Yes, it’s on you to decide what you need from them, but their site doubles as an almost magical automated assistant that brings you the exact data that you are looking for. So, if your site is underperforming, if the money just isn’t coming in, you can rest assured that SEMRush will have the answer why, probably before you even realize you have a problem. The main cornerstones to growing an online porn empire are your initial web setup and the optimizations that come along the way. SEMRush is the perfect tool to guide you through both.
Initial Site Setup
Normally, I’d do a blow by blow of a site’s features, but my reviews are mostly aimed at people who want to learn how to get into the business, so I’ll take this step by step, from your perspective. You’ve got a commercial idea for some sort of service or product that is adult in one way or another. So, you’re selling cock rings or hosting videos of people who like to wear cockrings. Hell, maybe you’re reviewing cock rings. It doesn’t matter. What does matter is how you plan to cash in on your traction. Your website is your main access point for customers. They will either come to your site to browse, or they’ll be there to spend money.
Regardless, your very first goal is to rake in as many visitors as you can, irrespective of your business model. It’s a digital age and your website is your primary source of outreach. When you’re first starting out, you’ll be pitted against competitors who’ve been optimizing their marketing campaigns and their websites for some amount of time. You will be underperforming no matter what you do. SEMRush isn’t here to prevent that – they are here to minimize the damage. It’s the cost of doing business. But, they’ll make all the difference. If you go in blind, you’ll bleed your marketing budget dry and you won’t have anything to show for it. Head on over to SEMRush and start scraping.
Organic Data Scraping
Online customer acquisition is split into two categories, paid and organic. This is the difference between picking up a chick at a bar by buying her drinks and paying for a mail-order bride. Both of these cost money, but one is a transaction, the other is more of an expensive ritual. The bottom line is, organic optimizations cost money too; it’s just not obvious. So, head on over to SEMRush, enter all the information that pertains to your website and start with the organic data. Find out who your competitors are and why they’re performing as well as they are.
Are they using large articles? Are they cross-linking? Perhaps they have a wealth of unique data that people keep coming back to? Hell, maybe they’re referenced somewhere relevant and this is boosting their credibility. Who knows. All that matters is that you find out what they’re doing and follow through with SEMRush’s suggestions on how to set up your website. You won’t knock your competitors down, but you will be breathing down their necks, for sure.
PPC Data Scraping
This is where it gets a bit confusing. Why would you use SEMRush’s statistics for PPC purposes when every PPC platform has their own, arguably superior source of information on keyword metrics? Surely Facebook knows more about Facebook than SEMRush does. Well… sort of. You see, PPC platforms like those of Facebook, Instagram or Google work quite well. Google Ads is especially impressive. But, when you’re running a large scale campaign across several different social media platforms, possibly for multiple businesses, you can’t afford to be torn across several browser tabs. Your mind can’t take it. Trust me; I’ve been there; it’s a fucking headache.
You’re always better off having one singular solution tied to all of your marketing campaigns, both organic and paid. That way, you can see all of your data under the same filters, instead of having to make guesstimates across different formats. SEMRush simplifies the data for you, simply by showing it all in one place under the same spotlight. It helps more than you know.
SEO Still Isn’t Dead
I honestly wish SEO would die already, but it’s just not in the cards. Search engines need to index their web pages and they need to rank them, so SEO will always exist in one form or another. At the very least, the whole keyword stuffing short article era came and went, finally. So, at the very least, you don’t have to worry about some scam artists hiring typewriter jockeys at half a cent per word in order to knock you off of the first place.
However, SEO is still alive and well in a new and improved form. Search engines, Google in particular, have learned a lot about SEO indexing and the recognition of valuable information. That’s kind of why I’m so popular. All of the shit that I write is off the top of my head, drawing from years of experience in the field. None of my shit is scripted or planned out. It’s all sincere. Ideally, you would want to do the same with your content, but what if you’re inexperienced or confused? It’s not a crime to be new to the world of web content writing. Well, SEMRush has several tools that are here to help you decide how and what to write, given your field of commerce.
Whether you’re looking for SEO content ideas or an actual tool that analyzes your text as you type it, SEMRush has you covered. They really did their homework on SEO, I’ll tell you that much. They make it impossible for you to screw up. All you have to do is follow through with their lessons.
Advanced Debrief Analytics
I call them debriefs, but really they’re just quarterly reports. It makes me feel like I’m on Star Trek, don’t judge me. SEMRush has a wealth of tools that automatically generate reports at any intervals you’d like, using any set of data, with cross-referencing against your other data sets. Basically, you’re free to order the damn thing to split up the data into any categories that matter to you and you’ll get a very lengthy report on how your shit is performing and why.
If a competitor is trying to outflank you, you’ll know long before you notice the dip in profits. SEMRush will show you, plain and simple, that you’re doing everything right, but you’re still losing. You’ll have to up your game and the analytical tools will show you how to do that.
Use It Responsibly
The bottom line I want you to take away is this: SEMRush has all the tools that you need to get your website performing optimally, but it’s not magic and it’s not a human being. You still have to go out of your way to use these tools. Don’t forget that. At the end of the day, your website is your responsibility and no amount of automation is going to replace the elbow grease. You have to roll up your sleeves when the numbers start to dip.
SEMRush has given you all the essential tools and a ton of miscellaneous ones that you didn’t even ask for. You’ve got gap analyses, listing managements, CPC maps and seamless integration with all of your marketing tools across as many websites as you own. Granted, you’ll need a paid subscription to actually use these, but I don’t see why you wouldn’t get one.
They also have this tool called Traffic Jet that is supposed to perfectly automate your entire PPC ad process, but I’m a little lukewarm on that topic. I don’t like ad automation. I’ll investigate that tool more and possibly do a dedicated review, but feel free to at least try it out in the meantime. It’s included in your subscription.
