This review is going to be a 50/50 split between ways you can use The Fappening Blog and ways that you can learn from them in designing your own porn website. They’ve done a fantastic job at keeping things simple and optimizing their site for profit. That’s exactly what you want to do with your websites, ideally. Now, I’m going to be singing their praises for a bit, because I think they’re a great example of a basic porn website that can turn a profit without having to bend over too far backwards. There are harder ways to make even more money if you’d like to shoot for the stars. You can try running an exclusive porn tube that charges subscriptions and all that, but simple blogs like this one, even if they are a dime a dozen – they get the job done.
I must have reviewed hundreds of these types of blogs across my years of working as a porn site reviewer and while it does seem like they’re all one and the same, there are subtle nuanced differences that matter a lot to the porn webmaster behind the actual site. For the consumer, every porn blog is exactly the same as any other, with the discerning factor being the hotness scale of the content. If the content is hot, the user sticks around, if it’s not, the user finds another porn blog and they usually don’t come back. You want to avoid being the kind of webmaster who sends horny masturbators away. You want to reel them in. That’s where the deeper wisdom comes in and that’s where you can start learning lessons from TheFappeningBlog.
Clean Layout, Simple Credo
Let’s start with the obvious stuff. The layout. It’s lean, it’s clean and it absolutely gets the fucking job done. From the very first time you open up the home page you are greeted with images of the shit you came to see – celebrities getting kinky. There’s a lot to be said about the actual Fappening, but we’ll get to that. Let’s do this step by step, all right? So, we’ve got the images, blown up to full resolution, taking up most of the screen, with a tiny section on the right reserved for some third-party advertisement. These little links are so non-intrusive that you could barely even make out that they’re there. And granted, when I turn off my ad-blocker some other ads appear on screen, but you could just leave the damn ad-block on at all times if you’d like. It’s your choice.
Without the ad-block this site is still surprisingly easy to sift through. There is one annoying pop-up messenger that tries to get you to click on it so you can hear a voice message from some random broad with huge tits. Obviously, it’s all fake and you should just avoid it. Hit the cancel button or whatever and get rid of the pop up, then you have nothing but the site left to enjoy. There do seem to be some links to actual live streams on the side of every page that lead to an external cam site. Nothing shady here, it’s just some affiliate promotion. I have nothing against it. I kind of wish that there was an option to only block annoying ads, because the ones that stay to the fucking side and away from the action aren’t at all egregious – I have no problem with ads that stay in their corner. I want webmasters to make some money after all.
This is a lesson to you as well. If your ads stay in their corner and they don’t intrude on the action, people are very unlikely to need an ad-blocker to navigate your site. I’m sure that at this point people are used to having ad-block running non-stop, but you could ask them nicely to turn off ad-block on your site or even force it off if you’ve got the right software, just make sure that you’re not also forcing people to stare at intrusive ads while they’re trying to jack off. Strike the perfect middle ground and you’ll do just fine. That’s the lesson here. People don’t hate ads. They hate intrusive ads that pull them away from the smut.
Ultimately a Fappening-Themed Site
Let’s take a step back and analyze the site as a whole. Beyond the main feed which shows photos of celebrities there are also menu options that lead you to specific sections of the site. Now we can talk about the actual Fappening. This was years ago. It feels like it was just yesterday, but it was a big blowout that happened all the way back in 2014. In internet years that’s basically centuries ago. Anyways, the whole point behind the Fappening was that we discovered that celebrities love taking naked pictures of themselves and posting them online. The pictures circulated and everyone and their grandmother was jacking off to them.
Today, the term is used more in association with the event than as an actual reference to the original leak. There are no new Fappening photos. There can’t be. The portmanteau refers to the original leaks. Today, the word is generally used to describe naked photos of celebrities or any kind of video or photography of celebs that you can jack off to, even if they’re not technically naked. You get the idea. We’ve got a new meme-worthy word with which we can describe celebrity nudes, fakes and similar media that people like jacking off to. The word itself is big in SEO so it’s easier for people to find what they’re looking for even when they’re not exactly sure which celebrity they’re after.
That’s why TheFappeningBlog has this handy menu towards the top of every page that links to the newest celebrity nudes that are currently trending, in case you didn’t know about the hottest new pics in the field. This is yet another lesson that you can learn from TheFappeningBlog. If there’s hot new content on your site that you’re looking to show to the world and you think it has potential to hook in new customers, make sure to point it out in some way that sticks out. This site just uses the names of the celebrities in bright and vibrant colors. You can get as innovative as you’d like with this approach. You can have a separate banner on the side for the hottest most recent content or you could just float it to the top of the results page. It doesn’t matter.
Check Out the Forum
Ok, moving on, TheFappeningBlog also has a forum that’s relatively active. As you can imagine, this place is riddled with people who are looking to discuss naked celebrities one way or another. For the most part they just stay vigilant making sure that nothing slips beneath their radar. If there are new celebrity nudes, you can bet your ass they’ll find them and talk about them. This is a great place to hang out if you’re looking for like-minded perverts who, like you, care about celebrity nudes. I can’t recommend this place enough. Everyone’s really welcoming and the forum is extremely well structured. You won’t have any problems finding your way around, I can tell you that much. You’re also extremely likely to make a friend, that is, if you’re looking to make friends with perverts.
The forums are also the only place where you might accidentally make some back-traffic for your own site, provided you play all of your cards right. You see, they don’t like cross-promotion, especially not when it’s blatant. They won’t let you spam their forums with backlinks. But, if you’ve got a celebrity site that’s filled to the brim with quality smut that they don’t have and you’ve watermarked your shit properly, in a non-invasive, but still informative way, then you should be able to share that content on the forum without getting in trouble.
Who knows, they might even feature your content on their main page, beyond the forum, again, if you play your cards right. As with any forum, I recommend that you spend some time there first, before you try anything at all. Get accustomed to the place, make some friends, learn the rules and plan out your attack. I shouldn’t even be calling it an attack, at this point it sounds like I’m encouraging you to break terms of service – I am not. I’m just saying, test the waters. Get to know the people on the forum and once you feel at home, decide how you’re going to use the forum and the site itself. You could be looking at a lot of marketing potential, or at the very least you could learn a lot about how to run a successful Fappening-themed site.
