Not to be confused with the legacy publication The Onion, theCHIVE is its own type of beast. Hell, it has one of the best origin stories of any publication that I’ve ever heard of. And I’ve read a lot of origin stories; I review sites on Porn Webmasters after all!

With that fucking being said and all of that shit, if you want a place that you can go that’s random as fuck, this is where you want to be. It has a fuck load of slideshow stories that are easy to consume, interesting enough to keep you invested, and sometimes it’s actually funny in the process. What is so fucking special about theCHIVE? The way the site began is one of the things that makes it so fucking unique. It began officially around 2008, but that’s not where the brand truly begins. You see, in 2007, theCHIVE began as a hoax publication aimed at tricking mainstream media publications into picking up a few of their stories.

It fucking worked too! Their first story about Donald Trump tipping $10,000 was picked up by a variety of publications in 2007, before it was confirmed to be a total hoax. theCHIVE then successfully pulled off another hoax one year later with a ‘teenage texting disaster’ story. It involved a fake story about a teenager that told her Dad that she had sex for the first time on a beach. Why various publications in the mainstream media reported on this is goddamn beyond me, but I guess that was 2008 for you.

It’s also the same year that the publication went live. From then on, theCHIVE became a spot on the Internet that never, ever took itself too seriously. It was founded on being goofy, and that trend fucking continues today. Since then, theCHIVE has expanded and evolved. Nowadays when you visit the site, you won’t exactly find a site that’s all about pulling pranks or making various news outlets look like fools.

The modern version of theCHIVE is all about one thing: the content. While still embracing that same premise of anything goes, everything can be funny, and we’re all goddamn human beings so let’s not be so fucking serious about everything. For example, I just now refreshed the homepage and found that a gallery was posted approximately 46-seconds ago, while another gallery that featured ‘shower thought mindfucks’ was published 10-minutes prior.

That isn’t to say that theCHIVE publishes content about every fucking minute. There are times throughout the day when there isn’t that much content published. People have to fucking sleep, you know! Still, if you check theCHIVE around once or twice per day, you are undoubtedly going to have new content to look at every time you visit!
