GQ Magazine is a legendary quarterly review that covers a variety of topics having to do with men's stylish and high society. I am not one to turn my focus to less sexual periodicals, but for the purpose of this website, I have to do a review of it.
Instead of just being a shallow entertainment rag masquerading as an informed publication (**cough** **cough** Cosmo, anyone?), this one has a lot of lovely facets to it which can be used to improve your personal, professional, and love life. Here are a series of reasons why you should be reading the UK version of Gentleman's Quarterly, the United Kingdom version.
The Electronic Version Looks Just As Nice As The Hardcopy
Unless they are vintage copies of Penthouse, I am not one to read physical magazines anymore. Part of that is because, over time, my old lad mags kept getting cemented together due to all of the semen that had been spilled on them. The other reason is that it is a bore to wait around for the shitty postal service to deliver a magazine when I can get a new publication as soon as it is available online.
And while there is a certain sensory quality to holding a magazine, I am so used to wanking with my tablet I don't really miss that feeling. Anyway, this website looks just as fantastic as any 'real' magazine that I have ever seen.
Of course, with a brand like GQ, that is an absolute must, but credit where credit is due to the web design team. And in case you do not have familiarity with this publication, there is no need to worry about spam, there are not too many advertisements, and the pop-up bullshit is nonexistent. Keeping with this level of professionalism, finding the many types of articles is a breeze thanks to the onsite search feature and how intuitively everything is organized. Also, it is appreciated that each article is accompanied by bright, colorful, and custom pictures that really catch the eye.
And as I always do, I checked how this site looks on different types of machines, and even those which are older and slower processing, this online magazine's domain should load just fine.
I'll Do A Rapid Rundown A& Rating On Most Of The Major Categories
As you all know, on this website, I tend to write about more, let me say, sexy stuff, such as porn affiliate programs and adult website web traffic trading. But as GQ tends to be more of a safe for work magazine, it would seem like it would be difficult to describe how this publication could improve your income or life, in general. But if you keep reading through this section (and the rest of the article), I think you will see the value in this magazine.
Fashion – As someone who during my work time doesn't give a shit about what I wear because I spend so much time in my office or studio, I do not really care much about what brand of clothes I have got on. Nonetheless, after scanning through the write-ups about trends in men's fashion, I might reconsider my own apathy towards clothing trends. So, if looking trendy is important to you, this part of GQ will be super valuable to you. Also, another category, but a related one that is super cool, is their impressive number of designer watches.
Rating: 4/5 hands
Grooming – Alright, I might not be the most fashion-conscious, but like any sane human being, I do put effort into looking and smelling pleasant. In fact, I do like discovering new things about ways to look fly as hell, which is why one of the first things I loved about GQ are their grooming articles. Of course, they do reviews on products and techniques on how to take care of your health and appearance; they also detail what some of the most good-looking celebrities do to keep themselves looking great.
Rating: 5/5
Fitness – I do not care what anyone says, every guy wants to be the stud when they walk into a room, and you would think it is not something too difficult to achieve considering the fact that most people are fucking lazy. Unfortunately, there is a lot of crap "information" floating out there on the internet from grifters and propagandists. Fortunately, GQ is one of the better resources for keeping fit, dieting right, and maintaining your figure once you achieve your own goals. Certainly, all of you portly blokes probably should give these posts a read-through.
Rating: 5/5
10 Coolest... – What would a blog, or modern magazine, be without a listicle or two every publication. I personally have a weakness for them, so I am a little biased, but does that not mean my opinion isn't wrong. These list-style posts cover many of the same categories mentioned above and more that I have not gone on about in detail.
Rating: 5/5
That Only Scratches The Surface Of What You Are Going To Read About
But that is only the tip of this iceberg when it comes to content. Other topics which are discussed include cars, politics, sport, food & drink reviews. The political articles are surprisingly well balanced, well-written, and incorporate a variety of political views. And more interestingly, they cover the news better than, well, the “news” media.
The sports additions are not a mere recap of recent team performances in different athletic competitions. They instead focus on athletic competition in the context of current events, fashion inspiration, and other global pop culture trends. Speaking as someone whose only favorite athletic activities are making boocku bucks online and getting buck wild with nympho babes, I found it to be a riveting read.
Of course, the drink and cuisine articles cover much more than cocktail recommendations and recipes for a good date night which is nice. They focus on cookware reviews, food-based gift ideas during the holidays, suggested meal delivery services, and other ways to dine in a properly posh manner.
Lastly, one aspect of GQ UK that you can only get by checking the website is the many video posts that they host. They are not the most intellectually stimulating. But between the one-on-one interviews with relevant movie stars and athletes, panel discussions with different sorts of gurus, and light-hearted quizzes given to celebrity couples, they are fun to watch.
Dress To Impress And Get Better Style And Get #Winning Sex
I have never been one for branded clothing (except for maybe items from ThePornDude), but the articles of clothing and other neat products provided by GQ might make me change my mind. What they sell is not terribly unique, but there are plenty of neat knickknacks and other items.
Besides t-shirts, socks, water bottles, and other things you can get in most e-stores, they also have some hot Zippo lighters, bandannas, a sweet signet ring, and pins. To be honest, some look amazing, while others look a little hackneyed to me and can be a little overpriced. Still, it is not that big a deal considering the fact that this brand sells the idea of living it up and catering to a worldly audience.
As this is the case, investing in such items with this magazine's world-famous branding could potentially be a chick (or maybe chicano), magnet. Whatever happens, you'll be stepping your wardrobe game up a notch.
I would be remiss if I did not mention the official GQ Best Boxes. These packages include assorted items which can be purchased individually and are often valued at over two hundred US dollars. However, by getting a package deal, you can get authentic GQ apparel, accessories, skincare products, and other items for a mere fifty bucks.
I Guess I Should Drop A Few Notes About The Newsletter
What would an elite online publication be without a newsletter? Given everything that we have discussed that you can find on GQ, it really should be expected, amma right?
Keeping with the theme of this review, GQ does not disappoint, considering they have a trio of automatically distributed newsletters: GQ Daily, GQ Commuter, and GQ Recommends. The first highlights the recently best performing articles on the site which you will be made aware of daily. The Commuter option focuses on the top story of the day, convenient for those who want/need to stay on top of current events. And GQ Recommends sends you information about new or the most outstanding products as well as sales and specials on a plethora of products.
You can sign up for all of them or just one in case you do not want your inbox flooded with too much email. All you need to do is tap the menu, click Newsletter, and submit your email. Then you are all set.
Apparently, They Are Offering Career Opportunities Which Is Kinda Cool
From what I can tell, this publication does not have an affiliate program, but given the low cost of a subscription and quarterly schedule, I doubt it would be lucrative despite its quality. However, it looks like they are hiring, which is kind of cool considering how badass it would be to work for such a boss company.
Do not get too excited, though. You have to be British-based (or willing to relocate to London) and possess impressive qualifications. However, since this is a site about making money and because they describe the positions that they have available, it only makes sense to mention them briefly.
Advertising Sales/Graduate Scheme – Apart from the partner Conde Nast Britain, this seems to be the most lucrative job you could get with this brand. I would wager that you need some experience in sales to succeed here, but GQ's staff will take you on a comprehensive course on how to copywrite, produce advert design, sales techniques, and client management.
Temporary Pool – Yes, this is a seasonal position (unless someone is sick for an extended period!) and probably the one that is going to fluctuate the most throughout the year based on demand, but it looks like it's the least demanding when it comes to requirements.
Whichever position you get, there are some nice perks that come with working at GQ. You automatically qualify for medical insurance after twelve months. In half that time, you will be in the pension system, and long-term employees get twenty-five days annual for vacation. Even temp workers get a prorated holiday time.
And My Definitive Declaration Is This
Again, this is not exactly my cup of tea, but when I consider the wealth of information that this publication presents to just about every guy (and gals who are interested in understanding what men really want), this is a site that I strongly suggest reading. Indeed, I am going to give this one a top score: five hands.
Many of the posts are free to read, and getting access to the complete version is not going to break the bank. The subscription cost is 79.00 British pounds for a year, and with that package, you get both the digital version and also the printed version shipped to you. Not only that, but they will deliver to anywhere in the world. Payment can be sent using major credit cards and PayPal if you and to spend an additional twenty quid. Customers can cancel at any time, though I doubt you would want to.
Try it out and tell me what you think.
