I’ve been looking forward to this review for a while. Boy, do we have a lot to talk about. Let’s start with the general premise. You probably already know where I’m going with this, but I’ll be spelling everything out as if you were five. I don’t want to exclude anyone here.
The idea is to use XVideos to promote your own website. But wait, there’s more. XVideos is perfectly fine with this if you follow certain conditions. It’s complicated. But, it’s also extremely profitable, provided the rest of your profit chain is adequately optimized.
Watermarked Porn Videos
Suppose you’ve spent any time on XVideos, especially beyond the regular daily home page. In that case, you’ll have noticed the countless watermarked videos that seem to have absolutely nothing to do with XVideos. But, have you ever thought about what those are all about? More importantly, have you ever followed one of those links through for more content? I sure have. And I learned a very disappointing lesson that way, a very long time ago.
You see, I was watching some high-quality amateur shit featuring chicks, alone, at home. They were those kinds of potato cam videos from back in the day that show the babes masturbating in their bathrooms, presumably to send those videos to their boyfriends. The internet is littered with these kinds of videos, but finding them is a fucking nightmare. There are no centralized sites that produce this content because, by definition, it’s not the kind of content you can mass produce. These are the kinds of videos that have to be found by sheer luck.
Luckily, there are a lot of third-party websites that go way out of their way to find these kinds of videos and catalog them. Now, XVideos has millions, if not billions, of videos by now. Third-party indie sites usually have a couple of thousand videos at best, depending on how far along they’ve come without going bankrupt. Most quality amateur videos eventually make it to XVideos, but finding them is still really fucking hard.
Marketing a Niche Website
So, you find one video on XVideos, and then, you’re kind of screwed. All of the recommended videos underneath are kind of unrelated. They’re certainly not from the same source. Like I said, most of these babes only really make a couple of videos before they disappear off the face of the Earth. But, if the video you’re watching has a watermark, well, you’re dying to plop that bad boy into an address bar and see where you end up.
Usually, you end up on an indie site that features more of the same type of content. The smarter the site owner, the more similar the content is to the original video that got you to follow through the link. This is where webmaster wisdom comes in. This is also the lesson that you need to learn.
As a porn webmaster, you’re constantly fighting against people’s basic psychology. But, if you know where all the gears are and which way they’re spinning, you can use people’s psychology in your favor. All you have to do is analyze their standard behavior and use it to your advantage. In this case, you know - since you’ve been through it yourself - that when people find something they love jerking off to, they feel a guttural need to see more of it. If they’re on a specific fetish site, they’re bound to find more. They won’t leave that site.
But, it’s extremely hard to find what you’re looking for on sites like XVideos because of the saturation. This means that while that site might have a ton of loyal fans, they’re basically dying for a better alternative that’ll serve them specific content. And that’s where you come in.
Find a Fetish and Milk it Dry
The process is rather simple. First, you figure out a marketable niche. This can be a genre, a format, a vibe, or quite literally any characteristic that several porn videos share. Next, you find a supply of such videos. Thirdly, you set up an automated or at least semi-automated process that can scoop these bad boys up and put them all on your site. Finally, you upload a decent amount of them onto XVideos with your own watermark splattered all over them. You can check the appropriate section on this site for software that automates video watermarking. There are some pretty neat ones optimized for porn. Make sure also to slap the watermarks on the videos on your site, then auto-hide them.
This means that if anyone steals videos from your site, the watermark will magically appear when they’re played elsewhere. It’s pretty neat stuff. But, let’s get back to the marketing posting. You must be wondering how you’re supposed to decide which videos you should upload to XVideos and which you should keep behind. I know this will sound counter-intuitive, but you’re probably best off uploading all videos on both ends, watermarked, of course.
Complex Methodology
It sounds like a dumb idea – offering all of your smut for free on another site, but consider the following: Without in-depth tagging, cross-posting, and documenting, your videos will not appear as a package deal on XVideos, especially if you use different accounts for different videos. So, in other words, one man will not see all of your videos. Instead, one man will ideally see one of your videos, and if said man is horny and satisfied, well, he’s likely to come to your site through the watermarked URL.
Just like that, you’ve poached a fan from XVideos straight to your site.
You’ll need to dive into a slightly more complex marketing philosophy. First of all, you have to consider having several porn websites for every single marketable niche that you can think of. The more interest there is for a niche, the more you should consider making a site for it. Feel free to use the same hosting and storage solution and even a strong video overlap, but have different domains. You could even roll with the same fucking website. Just make sure that the domain URL that gets typed in somehow communicates to your site that this person is interested in a particular type of pornography. If someone finds you through blowjob videos, pretend that you only serve blowjob videos. That’s the basic logic with complex implementation. That’s what webmaster marketing is all about.
A Couple of Wisdoms
Next up, we need to discuss two fundamental concepts. The first is a general warning, and it goes like this: I don’t have the exact answers on any of this. The methods shift with the tides. So make sure to analyze what other successful webmasters are doing at any given point in time before you embark on a big marketing adventure.
The second important concept has to do with XVideos specifically. What’s the difference between this site and other similar sites when it comes to sharing watermarked videos? Well, it mostly has to do with the kind of people that visit the site and whatever the fuck is popular as of late. While I’m writing this review, I can see that the homepage of XVideos is fucking loaded with garbage that I don’t care about. Still, the deeper recesses are stuffed to the brim with homemade smut, especially the kind that features solo females.
PornHub, which is under the same network, doesn’t have nearly as much homemade shit. Instead, they seem to be focusing their efforts on high-end independent porn productions with camwhores that they’ve basically got on a payroll. I don’t mean that literally. I mean, they get kickbacks.
XVideos is Pretty Unique
The point is, XVideos is different than PornHub in that it has a much more underground vibe. You can see these kinds of differences between all porn tubes, to some extent. So, when you’re considering which porn tubes to market yourself on and which content is best suited for them, look at the trends. Hell, check out some porn forums and see what people seem to be interested in. Try to find a correlation between the regulars of a site and the genres that are popular there.
Finally, don’t forget to re-run analyses you’ve done before because site trends shift wildly. Organize your marketing campaigns with specific intents and try to cast more small nets rather than fewer big ones – so to speak.
Sharing watermarked videos is a great way to get people to visit your site without investing any money. Granted, the tools that automate this kind of shit en-masse cost a lot of money, but the principal method is actually free. XVideos are more than happy to receive free content, and you are ecstatic to receive free visits from other websites. Everyone wins. Just make sure to do your research.
